St.
Mary's Office of Youth Ministry is forming
"Nothing is stronger than the heart of
a volunteer"
Any
high school student who is a member of St. Mary's Parish
is welcome to join the team.
will offer
high school students an opportunity to sign up and participate
in a variety of service activities. These activities will
count toward your high school service requirement. All
projects will be coordinated and organized through St. Mary's
Office of Youth Ministry.
Consider
one or more of the following "Corporal & Spiritual
Works of Mercy"...
MAKE
EVERY EFFORT TO "PAY IT FORWARD"
1. Spend
time weekly with a "Grand-friend" at Mary's House or
Sunrise, play a game, listen to their stories, write letters
for them, help them celebrate their birthday, etc.;
2. Help set
up, serve and or clean up at the monthly Parish "Pasta
with the Pastor" Family Spaghetti Dinners;
3. Help a
fellow teen by tutoring with academics or coaching with a
sport;
4. Help
with regular clean up on the parish property (like
adopt-a-highway);
5. Assist a
person in need with sidewalk snow removal;
6. Assist a
person in need with simple yard work;
7. Form a
"Blanket Collection Project" for the homeless;
8. Help on
a regular monthly basis with the parish "Rockville
Fish" project;
9.
Co-ordinate a "Hats, Gloves and Socks Collection"
for the homeless;
10. Hold
bake sales to benefit a charity or soup kitchen;
11. Be
"On-Call" to help someone as a need arises;
12. Help
organize the collection for, and creation of, "Food
Baskets" for distribution to needy parishioners for
Thanksgiving, Christmas and Easter;
13. Help to
organize an elementary grade CYO Chess and Robotics Club;
14. Help
with the "hearing of prayers" during CCD classes;
15. Help
with Parish Homeland Security
