The
concept of the school advisory board is based on a belief in the
importance and power of shared leadership. Parents,
faculty, administration and the entire community work together
to set direction and determine policy in accordance with the
mission of the school and the policies of the Board of Education
of the Archdiocese of Washington.
The
Board is comprised of elected and appointed members at the
discretion and approval of the pastor.
The
first and foremost function of the advisory board is to provide
advice and assistance to the administrative team (Pastor and
Principal) in the development of policy.
By
"advisory" is meant that board members offer their
experience and expertise to strengthen the decision making
process. This assistance is provided through the function
of the following committees: planning, policy development,
finance, public relations/marketing, development/ fund-raising,
and evaluation.
It
is through the work of these committees, that decisions are
reached, direction is set and policy is developed. The
Board is advisory only, all final decisions are made are made by
the administration team (Principal and Pastor). For more
information about the School Board or if you have any concern
that you would like to have addressed by the Board, please
contact any one of the elected members. Additional
information regarding the School Board can also be found in the
Parent Handbook.
