PARISH
ACTIVITIES AND PROGRAMS

CCD Calendar
Sunday and Monday, May 4 & 5 are the last days of CCD for the
current academic year.
Friday, May 9, 7:00 pm - Confirmation
On Friday, May 9, 7 pm, we welcome Archbishop Donald Wuerl who will confirm 66 boys and girls.
Right to Life Carnation Campaign
In keeping with tradition, carnations will be available after all Masses on Mother’s Day, May 11. Your continued generosity will benefit and support Montgomery County Right to Life.
Mother’s Day
Mass Remembrance
In appreciation for all that our mothers do and have done for us, we are offering you the opportunity to have them and their intentions remembered at all the Masses on
Mother’s Day, May 11, and continuing throughout the month. You can find the envelopes for this purpose in the vestibules of the Main Church. So that the names can be published in the Mother’s Day Remembrance booklet, return your envelope (please print names clearly) by Monday, May 5.
Monthly Food Collection
The monthly food collection for FISH/HELP will take place next weekend, May 10-11. Kindly bring non-perishables to the vestibules of the Main Church. Your contribution helps feed the hungry in the area.

Sodality
Have you ever thought of joining the Sodality?
Today, when so much focus is placed on the secular world and material possessions, women of the parish are offered membership in an organization that promotes time specifically set aside for prayer, traditional Catholic devotions, charitable works and fellowship with like-minded individuals. If you feel there may be something missing in your spiritual life, please join us on May 6 at 7:00 pm in the Parish Hall as we discuss the many benefits of becoming a Sodalist.
Induction of new members and the Crowning of Our Lady will take place on May 14 at 7:30 pm in the Main Church and will be followed by our annual Strawberry Social.
Meetings are held only once per month on the 2nd Wednesday evening but the benefits are felt throughout the life of the Sodalist who, through the practice of the spiritual and corporal works of mercy, endeavors to join Our Blessed Mother as a loving disciple of Jesus.
Social Concerns Update
St. Mary's Church and School collected 4,000 pounds of food during the recent “Hunger to Hope” food drive in honor of the papal visit. Donations included those collected for Souper Sunday. Food was donated to: Rockville HELP/FISH; Our Lord's Table soup kitchen at St. Martin's; St. Martin's food pantry; and St. Jerome's Cafe. Thanks to your generosity, these charities will be able to help the hungry in our community. Over 270,000 pounds were collected throughout the Archdiocese.
Your donations to the Spring Clothing Drive last April 19-20 for the benefit of Interfaith Clothing Center filled a 12-foot rental truck. Again, the generosity of the parish will benefit the local community. We wish to express a special thanks to Paul Barrett, Jr. who finances the truck rental for our clothing drives.
Archbishop’s Appeal
Reminder
If you have not yet given to the 2008 Archbishop’s Appeal, please give the decision careful consideration. Funds from this appeal are used for important pastoral, ministerial and social programs. Your generous support of this annual appeal can result in an improved quality of life for many throughout the archdiocese. If you have any questions or need additional information, contact the Archbishop’s Appeal office at 301-853-5376. Pledge forms are available in the church vestibules.
St. Mary’s Library
Please don’t forget to stop by the library (located in the vestibule of the Main Church) before or after Mass for reading materials, tapes or videos spanning a wide range of Catholic subjects, saints and apologetics. Unless you purchase religious materials from Catholic bookstores or online, your St. Mary’s library may be the only place you can read about your Catholic faith for “free.” Please drop in and discover all we have to offer.
Mass Intentions
Any one of the regularly scheduled Masses may be offered for a specific intention – in memory of a deceased person; for a sick person’s recovery; a special birthday; anniversary; or other occasion. You may make arrangements in the Rectory Office for a specific date. The customary offering for a Mass card is $15.00.
